ABOUT TOVCHELLA

Tovchella started as a simple house party for our friends to celebrate Tov Breslow’s birthday in Jaffa in 2019. B”H it has been getting better and better every year and it has since grown into a Shabbaton/Festival complete with live performances from DJs and bands.

Last year, we realized as more people found out about it, more people wanted to come including a good portion of people we hadn’t yet met. This is such a bracha and we now need a registration form and small ticket charge to ensure we can make this a sustainable, memorable weekend for everyone to come and enjoy.

We can’t wait to party with you! However, there’s no way to accurately shop and make delicious food for you if we don’t know you’re coming. Once you have read the FAQs and know with the most confidence you can have now that you will be attending be’H, fill out the registration right away.

FAQs

We try to answer as many questions as possible. If you do not find your answer here or on the rules section, reach out to us right away.

Sure thing, just refer them to this page and have them fill out the form and send payment.

This year, the music and meals will take place at the front house. Tent city will be the entire yard in the back house (where we live). The yard has soft artificial grass and the ground is flat. You will have plenty of access to water, shaded areas, and bathrooms. There will also be mazganim to chill under in the house (which also means to close the door behind you.

There will be dogs allowed and we and other owners will do our best to ensure dogs are curbed and do not encroach on human spaces. Please make sure to close all gates to the yard as you come and go to ensure no furry friends get out.

During Shabbat, there is a full lineup of shul-related activities you can choose to attend. If that’s not your thing, you are free to chill on the grounds as there will be other ongoing activities you may choose to participate in. Please be mindful of those who are shomer shabbat by not engaging in any open breaking of shabbat.

TLDR: Basically, do as you please, there won’t be any shabbos police forcing anyone to do or not do anything, but be respectful of others.

This year, we are asking for a 150 nis contribution per person to help cover costs for food (BBQ and 3 Shabbos Meals), some alcohol and necessary supplies (ie: we all need TP right?).

If you have any issues with parnassa, please do not hesitate to reach out to us privately right away.

*Note – special discounts available for soldiers! Reach out to us privately for more details.

Details on where to send money and our personal WhatsApp numbers will be provided on the confirmation page once you submit the registration form.

All three meals for Shabbat (Dinner, Lunch and 3rd Meal) plus a BBQ on Friday day during the performances.

There will also be some alcohol and cocktails during the shabbaton, but not enough for everyone to continually drink throughout the day. Bring a bottle of your favorite liquor or wine so there is plenty.

There will also be beer on tap for sale during the day Friday.
Beers are priced at 20nis for 1 and 15nis for 2.
If there is any left over entering Shabbat, try as much as you can to keep a count of what you drink and make sure to pay later.

No, we will not be accepting payment during the festival other than beers bought from the tap.

If you prefer cash over any other means, please reach out to us right away so we can find a way for you to hand cash over to someone else before the event starts.

No. The cost we are asking for is already low because we are also contributing a significant amount and was calculated based on everyone eating and paying. We aren’t going to be asking everyone before each meal if everyone paid for that meal. Your best bet is to get there early enough to enjoy the BBQ while the live music is going on and enjoy all three meals with the rest of the festival. You can ask anyone who’s been there before if the food will be yummy.

Some ground rules:

  1. Close all doors and gates behind you when entering or leaving the grounds or a house.

    • We have a dog and there will be other dogs on the grounds. We don’t want any furry friends getting away while we’re having a good time.

House doors must be closed because the mazgan will be on inside for people to come in and cool off when needed.

  2. Please use common sense in keeping yourself and those around you safe. In the event of an emergency or siren, please stay calm and follow directions to the nearest safe place.

  3. STAY HYDRATED and know your limits

  4. Please remember this is our house. We are so happy to have you, but please be respectful to us, our space and everyone in it.

  5. Upstairs areas and rooms are completely off limits, except for those staying in a room as assigned by us.

  6. If something break inadvertently, it’s all good, just let us know right away.
